    🇪🇺 ECB chief Lagarde is against Binance in Europe! (Rumor) Journalist Gareth Jenkinson, on CT as @gazza_jenks, writes that he is "reliably informed": Lagarde directly instructed Greece to reject Binance’s MiCA license application. At a meeting with Prime Minister Mitsotakis in May, she allegedly made clear that Binance is not welcome in Europe. The spicy part: The application had actually cleared. The Greek regulator HCMC classified it as MiCA‑compliant, reviewed up to the ESMA. 18 months of paperwork, everything checked off, just before approval. Then a call from above, and suddenly the application is dead. Things are heating up on CT. Binance CEO Richard Teng (@_RichardTeng) retorts that the application was fully reviewed and clean, they are ready for the next step. At the same time, the protectionism accusation is hot: Europe is removing foreign competition so that its own regulated exchanges get the field. Lagarde has been the loudest advocate for the digital euro for years. And she openly says why: private dollar‑stablecoins threatened "monetary control" and made Europe dependent on foreign payment infrastructure. Binance is the biggest distributor of exactly those dollar‑stablecoins, Tether alone stands at $186 billion. Thus the architect of the digital euro is blocking precisely the biggest competitor to her own planned state currency. No one elected her. I don’t defend Binance blindly, the long‑drawn‑out saga is also a message about the exchange itself. But this is bigger than an exchange. If a single central‑bank governor can decide by a phone call that a vetted, rule‑compliant company still gets kicked out, then MiCA ends up being nothing but arbitrary paperwork with a letterhead – a rule that can be undone by a single call. The market has already smelled it. #BNB has been down for weeks. $BNB is at $578, just above its annual low. From June 30, every exchange needs an EU licence, otherwise it’s over in all 27 countries. Binance now only has France left as an open door. No one has actually confirmed any of this. Neither the ECB nor Athens. A “should”, a “reliably informed”, nothing else is in the room yet. And yet the lingering question remains: If this is true, Binance was just a test. Who’s next once the digital euro really launches? Tell me where I’m wrong.
