ngl... $ICP is one of the strangest projects I've watched over the years. If you've been around since 2021, you'll probably remember how insane the narrative was when #Internet Computer first launched. DFINITY wasn't pitching another Layer 1. The vision was a future where applications, storage, services, and computing infrastructure could run fully onchain without relying on traditional cloud providers. Fast forward to 2026, and the story looks very different. Despite years of development and a market environment that should theoretically favor decentralized compute and AI infrastructure, adoption remains surprisingly weak. Looking at the numbers makes that difficult to ignore: > ~$1.7M annualized revenue. > ~$3.2M annualized fees. > ~$10M TVL. > P/E above 800. > ~$1.4B market cap. That's a very underwhelming set of fundamentals for a protocol positioning itself as the future of onchain computing. My issue with $ICP has never been the technology, the team, or the vision. The issue is that after all these years, I still don't see meaningful network effects. AI, decentralized infrastructure, autonomous agents, and onchain applications should all be tailwinds for ICP, yet very little of that momentum appears to be translating into real adoption. Meanwhile, #Ethereum continues attracting developers, #Solana continues attracting users, and newer ecosystems continue generating significantly more activity despite having far less ambitious visions. Crypto rarely rewards technology alone. It rewards users, liquidity, revenue, and network effects. That's why I continue to view $ICP as a project with far stronger engineering than market traction. At this point, I don't see a realistic path for ICP to become a major winner in the industry, technology may be interesting, but after years of limited adoption, weak revenue, and almost no meaningful network effects, the gap between vision and reality remains enormous. Based on today's fundamentals, I believe $ICP is far more likely to continue fading into irrelevance than emerge as one of crypto's high-quality assets. Interesting technology. Weak adoption. Tiny revenue. Limited network effects. Far more vision than execution.
